The Government of Alberta has announced that the PCL Construction design-build team is the successful proponent for the new Calgary Cancer Project, located at the Foothills Medical Centre Campus. Anticipated to open in 2023, the new Calgary Cancer Centre will centralize treatment and care for cancer patients in southern Alberta.
This new, $1.4-billion cancer centre will be a state-of-the-art facility with a light-filled central courtyard and views of the mountains. The new centre will have twice as much space for available for clinical trials and for patient treatment as the current Tom Baker centre has, and will have 160 inpatient beds, 12 radiation vaults, more than 100 patient exam rooms, and more than 100 chemotherapy chairs. Construction of the facility will begin later this year, and is on track to open for patients in 2023.
Footprint is proud to support the PCL Design-Build team as their energy modelling and LEED certification consultant.
